The Version 4.0 testing server is now live, which means HoYoverse is about to kick off the pre-release hype! Based on the usual schedule, the Version 4.0 Special Program should drop around January 30th. However, due to version timing adjustments, the preview schedule might shift a bit. As you all know, the Outfit Store is finally in the game! All previously released outfits are now available for Trailblazers to grab. Currently, two new outfits are up for sale!
Ow, Star Rail's outfit release pace is... well, not quite on par with Genshin Impact. Genshin drops at least 4 outfits per major version, while Star Rail gives us 2 if we're lucky. And don't get me started on Zenless Zone Zero – they've got character skins each version AND even the protagonist gets new drip! As someone deep in multiple HoYo rabbit holes, I really hope Star Rail steps up its fashion game.
But here's the good news! According to leaks, this new major version will bring TWO brand new outfits! The first is likely for Ruan Mei, and the second is for the Trailblazer. Ruan Mei's should be a direct purchase, while details on the Trailblazer's remain unclear.
For the Trailblazer outfit, there are a few theories:
- Accessory add-on – like Mimi's Hat or Gao-Gao decorations
- Event outfit – via top-up bonus or limited-time paid event
- Story reward – unlocked through main story progression
Since Version 4.0 takes us to a brand new planet with a totally different vibe, a fresh wardrobe change makes perfect sense (not an Elation Path form).
